Name: Amy Anselmino and Kim, Jong Hee

First KAtCH event: I believe it was 2016 Christmas party at Pete Stoffels' house.

Where did you grow up/Where do you live now? I grew up in St. Joseph, MI and now live outside of Milwaukee, WI

Tell us about yourself: I was adopted at 4 months old to Southwest Michigan. I grew up in a predominantly white area, but my family always encouraged my curiosity to learn about Korea. Our family traveled to Korea in 1996 with the Ties Program. I went back several times after that, completed 2 language programs at 2 different universities in Korea (one in Seoul and one in Gimhae), and taught English in a public school in Seoul for 2 years. My husband is also a KAD and we have a 2 year old son. I have a background in elementary education, but am currently staying at home taking care of my son.

You’ll likely KAtCH me doing the following: Running (after my 2 year old), spending time outside-walking or enjoying patio bars, watching K dramas, planning my next travel adventure, and hanging with friends or family.

Why do you enjoy being involved with the KAtCH community? I am thankful to be a part of a community that helps me to explore my identity and connect with other adoptees who have similar experiences. Now as a parent, it is also nice to have other KAD parents who can relate as we navigate a new layer of being adopted.

Favorite restaurant(s) in Chicagoland: Cho Sun Ok is a favorite for BBQ!
