About Korean Adoptees Chicago
OUR FOCUS
KAtCH was built to support, develop, and lead the adult Korean adoptee community in Chicago. In addition to this focus, we are also passionate about building bridges between families and parents of adoptees, the Korean American community in Chicago, and the international Korean adoptee community.
KAtCH organizes a monthly dinner and various cultural events for adoptees, annual events with various Korean American organizations in Chicago, social events for adoptive parents and their families, in addition to volunteering at Camp Pride – a culture camp for Korean adoptees from K-12th grade in Itasca, IL.
We are always looking for and welcoming new connections within the adoptee community and we encourage those interested to contact us  and to subscribe to our Google listserv (link in the right sidebar). Also, find the latest events in our Calendar, and new and fun information in our Blog.
As a young organization we have many goals and plans for the future and look forward to sponsoring events for Korean adoptees in Chicago, prospective and adoptive parents, young adoptees, Korean American organizations, and the international Korean adoptee community.
OUR HISTORY
In February 2008, KAtCH was founded by Kim Langrehr, Anne Mills, and Katie Stefani. These three adult adoptees met each other at the International Korean Adoptee Association’s (IKAA) Mini-Gathering that took place in Las Vegas, NV in January 2008. After connecting at the IKAA Mini-Gathering they began to build the adult Korean adoptee community that is now known as KAtCH – Korean Adoptees of Chicago.
In May of 2009, we became registered as an Illinois Not-for-Profit Corporation. We are currently in the process of becoming registered as a federal 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization with the IRS .
